The Bluetones (Bradford Rio, 2nd May 2003)

First up, a word of apology to tonight's support band Ricky. I missed your set due to setting off for the gig late but was reliably informed by my two mates I met at the gig that you were "bloody good". So, if I see youse around here again, I'll be sure to check you out.

So then, my second Bluetones gig in a fortnight - been a while since I was able to say that about any band. As with their Leeds gig a couple of weeks back, it's mainly new stuff. I have to say that "Fastboy" is still my favourite newie and should hopefully be making some inroads into the Top 40 by the time you read this. The likes of "Here It Comes Again", "You're No Fun Anymore", "Turn It Up" and the frenetic "Code Blue" are all well worth a listen as well and suggests the new album should be up to the usual standards.

Although it's difficult to see the Tones appealing to any new fans despite the extensive touring, this is a timely reminder to us fans as to why the Bluetonic still tastes pretty sweet these days.
