The Rain Band (Leeds Rocket, 4th July 2003)

So we had a choice for tonight - we could've gone to see Wheatus at the Town Hall or opted for another chance to see the Rain Band at the Rocket. Hmmm...not exactly a difficult one that.

This is the third time we've seen Manchester's answer to BRMC this year and although the initial rush does seem to have worn off a bit, they still put on a more than competent set tonight at the Rocket with the scuzzed-up sneer of "The World Is Ours" and "Easy Rider" still sounding pretty damn potent three months on. Of the new stuff from the forthcoming album, "Ruins And Remains", "Fists Of Fury" and the Primal Scream style closer "Into The Light" all promise great things.

Although they're still on a bit of a learning curve, the Rain Band have got more than enough low-end drive and determination to sound like contenders. Keep an eye on 'em.
