If nothing else, Six By Seven deserve some sort of long service medal for sticking to their guns as long as they have. Five years and God only knows how many label changes since their debut album and the three remaining members of the Nottingham sonic terrorists are still valiantly plugging away on the toilet circuit.
Unfortunately, tonight isn't one of the better Six By Seven gigs I've seen. I dunno whether it's the ever-depleting membership or what but they sound a bit tired. It certainly doesn't help that they open the set with three over-stretched psychedelic jams which test the patience of those present.
That said, when the good stuff does come it's just about worth the wait - "Candlelight", "Flypaper For Freaks" and "Eat Junk Become Junk" are all fine electro-rock terrorism thrashathons. However, the fact that new single "Bochum" sounds a bit like they're on autopilot doesn't exactly bode well for the future.
It's anyone's guess what happens next but getting some replacement members in for the ones who've left might be a good start...
