Cinderella:

From December 12 through December 30, 1990, Bobbie starred as the lead in Rodgers and Hammerstein´s 'Cinderella' at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, California. The cast also included Jeff Trachta as the Prince, and Hollywood legends Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows as the King and Queen. Bobbie and Jeff were co-stars on 'The Bold and The Beautiful' when 'Cinderella' was produced.

However, Jeff had a finger in the process of Bobbie being cast as Cinderella. Jeff had been cast as the Prince, and learned that no one had yet been cast to play Cinderella. So, he told the producers to look no further because he was going to bring them the perfect Cinderella -- which he did. Jeff introduced Bobbie to the producers, and they totally fell in love with her. Bobbie was then cast as Cinderella.

In this classical fairy tale, which is familiar to the most of us, Cinderella is living with her evil stepmother and her two stepsisters who treat her badly. One day, it is announced that the Prince is giving a ball for the purpose of finding himself a bride at the dance. Like every other girl in the kingdom, Cinderella wants to go the ball, but for starters, she has no dress to wear to the dance. In steps Cinderella´s Fairy Godmother, and with her magical powers, she turns a pumpkin into a golden carriage and four mice into four horses. She sends Cinderella off to the ball in a beautiful dress. She also issues a warning for Cinderella to leave the ball before midnight, since the magic will then be broken. When Cinderella and the Prince meet, it is love at first sight, and they dance the night away. But as the clock is reaching the stroke of midnight, Cinderella leaves in a rush. In her hurry, she drops one of her shoes, and the Prince finds it and vows to find the girl for whom the shoe fits. The Prince goes out on a search for the young girl who captured his heart, and eventually finds Cinderella. They marry and live happily ever after.

The music for 'Cinderella' was written by Richard Rodgers, and Oscar Hammarstein wrote the lyrics. The songs are incorporated into the play to help develop the plot. The songs include such highlights as 'In My Own Little Corner', in which Cinderella wistfully draws the audience into her romantic world of make-believe, and 'Ten Minutes Ago', a duet in which she and the Prince express their wonderment at having fallen in love at first sight.

'Cinderella' was a memorable experience for both Bobbie and Jeff, and not only because of their famous co-stars, but also because of what happened on opening day. Opening day of 'Cinderella' attracted 5000 people. During one scene in the play, Bobbie was supposed to turn to Steve, and Jeff to Jayne, to dance with them during a song. However, Steve and Jayne never showed up. The music started, but there was no King or Queen! So, Jeff turned to Bobbie, and they did an interpretive ball room dance, and for five minutes they had to make up their moves! After the show, Bobbie and Jeff inquired of Steve and Jayne why they didn´t show up for the ball room dance scene, and their response was that Steve had had problems with his tights.

Steve and Jayne later appeared on B&B in 1993, as themselves, in the Hollywood fashion show episodes, and were also able to catch up on Bobbie and Jeff.
