BOBBIE DAZZLER

The former Miss America entrant owes her healthy aspect to catching regular Zs

Early to bed, early to rise, makes you healthy, wealthy and wise. And according to The Bold And The Beautiful star, Bobbie Eakes, early to bed, early to rise also provides a woman with essential beauty sleep.

"I need at least eight hours," admits Eakes, who placed in the Top 10 in the Miss America Pageant and was first-runner up and talent winner in the Miss Teen USA Pageant. "I'm lucky my husband feels the same way. It's nice to go to bed by 10pm and get up at six o'clock. I have the morning, I read the paper and have some coffee. It's peaceful. When it's nice out, I like to sit outside and look at the birds. It's meditative and it's a great way to start your day."

Eakes needs the morning respite because the rest of her day is always hectic. Her current schedule is no exception. In addition to B&B she has an album coming out. So, she has been acting, recording, shooting the video for the album and the still photos for the cover.

With so much on her plate, Eakes is fortunate that husband David Steen lends a helping hand. One project where his efforts were essential was the creation of her line of beauty products.

"My husband actually got it going," Eakes reports. "He was looking for a company that could work with me and develop a line of hair care and skin care products. He found one in Australia. It was a few years in the making and now we are in more than 2000 retall stores in Australia. It is a signature line, so it is my name, Bobbie Eakes. The Be Youthful Skin Care is your basic moisturiser creams, eye-firming creams, cleansers and exfoliants."

One of the most important aspects of a beauty product for Eakes is the product's fragrance, so she worked very closely with the manufacturer to achieve just the right scents. "The shampoos really lather and they smell delicious," Eakes says. "I tried them out on my sisters. Because I have frizzy hair, what I call scenestealers (those little frizzies that pop up in the middle of the scene and steal the light), I had the company create a No Frizz Haircare System that I can use."

Eakes stores cases of her signature line in her bathroom cabinets at home. "I do my make-up by the windows. I think natural lightning is the best by which to put on your make-up. In the evening when it is dark, I use my make-up lights. I used to wear a lot of make-up. I come from the South, where the women are always put together. I still don't have the guts to go out with no make-up. Sometimes I put on a tinted sunscreen or a very light make-up like Enlighten by Estee Lauder. It's a very sheer foundation with and SPF of 15".

For her eye shadow, Eakes prefers basic browns and taupes. Her favorite is MAC's Espresso, no matter what outfit she is wearing. Her mascara is the tried and true Great Lash by Maybelline. Her blush is also by MAC - 9 to 5. For lip-liner, she likes to use MAC's Spice pencil and for lipsticks, she prefers coraly-brown shades. "They tend to liven me up", she says. "If I go too brown, I get a little bit drab."

Eakes carries her make-up with her at all times, because she never knows when she is going to be caught somewhere and need to do a touch-up for a photo or a quick meeting. Eakes also tries to cram in a monthly facial and a monthly manicure/pedicure appointment. "Sometimes I just wear bare nails. I like clean, well-manicured nails without polish. I like to keep them neat and filed and I buff them. It's practical for somebody like me, who always is doing a lot at home - cooking, gardening, or playing my guitar."

Bobbie is quick to point out that a healthy lifestyle is just as important when it comes to looking good. "I think the creams and the make-up are just a drop in the bucket. Working out, getting lots of sleep and drinking lots of water, I feel, is the main thing to looking good. The cosmetics company is probably going to kill me for saying that."
