This dark and sensitive saga is set in the Appalachian hills of South Carolina, and tells the story of a dysfunctional rural family in crisis. Originally written for the stage by David Steen, Bobbie´s husband, the theater play of 'A Gift From Heaven' opened at the Chamber Theater in Los Angeles in 1988. David, himself, played the only male character, and won awards for acting, producing and writing. He turned the script into a screenplay in 1993, and produced it in 25 days for a mere $750,000. The cast included Sharon Farrell (Flo, 'The Young and The Restless') and Gigi Rice of 'The John Larroquette Show'. Bobbie made a cameo appearance in her husband´s film as a singer with a local hillbilly band. The movie was shown in domestic and foreign film festivals.
