SatAlarm is a program that is to run concurrently with WinOrbit. SatAlarm will sound an alarm sound of your choice when a satellite being tracked by WinOrbit breaches a set level of degree either above or below the horizon. This so you don't miss your favourite bird(satellite) when it goes overhead when you have friends over for a cuppa. SatAlarm communicates with WinOrbit via DDE. It is a bad idea to run and use other software that is heavy on processor usage while running SatAlarm. Until I sort it all out. Some functions visible in the screen shot are not yet implemented and are disabled or invisible in the Alpha Release. This is an alpha alpha alpha release.
Known bugs, If you do not have the webdings font in your Windows Font directory you will end up with an flashing alphabetic character symbol indicator instead of a satellite. After my seti at home screen saver had been running for a while with WinOrbit, SatAlarm running as well, when I moved the mouse , SatAlarm crashed with an EApplication Error. Before operating other software like WxSat for recording telemetry, DDE should be stopped, if SatAlarm starts to get upset it will start beeping at you as small errors are detected in comms with the DDE. Oh by the way, I use Borland Delphi Version 2 to write these, I know, Upgrade,.
I'm thinking about making the source code available to the programmers out there, as long as there is some sort of stability maintained with it and 5 million versions don't appears after a while. What do you think. Kevin, VK3UKF.
Feedback on the SatAlarm software would be really, really appreciated. Kevin, VK3UKF.
